Northern Star Resources (ASX: NST)View stock profile →

Northern Star Resources delivered strong financial results for the 12 months ended 30 June 2026, with revenue reaching $7,623.1 million and net profit for the period of $1,664.3 million. The gold miner’s performance supports a fully franked final dividend of 30.0 cents per share, bringing total annual dividends to 55 cents when combined with the 25 cent interim dividend paid in March. This franked distribution profile remains attractive for Australian income investors, particularly those in higher tax brackets seeking to maximize after-tax returns.

The company’s cash earnings of $2,914.2 million demonstrate solid operational cash generation, while net tangible assets per share increased to $10.97 from $10.40 in the prior year. The improving balance sheet strength per share suggests the company has retained sufficient earnings to support both capital investment and shareholder distributions. The 100 per cent franking means Australian shareholders receive full tax credits on dividend distributions, reducing the effective tax cost of receiving income.

Operationally, Northern Star took strategic action during FY26 to reshape its portfolio. The company divested its 50 per cent interest in the Central Tanami Project Joint Venture to MGX Resources Limited for $50 million in February 2026, streamlining the joint venture structure. Simultaneously, management acquired a 30 per cent interest in Alaska Range Pty Ltd to pursue exploration activities in the Alaska Range Project in the United States. This transition reflects a strategic pivot toward North American exposure while reducing complexity in its Australian operations.

For shareholders, the final dividend will be paid on 15 October 2026 to those recorded on 10 September 2026. The Dividend Reinvestment Plan remains available, with the deadline for election notices set at 8 October 2026. The DRP provides a mechanism for shareholders seeking to compound their holdings through reinvested distributions at no cost.

The preliminary results announcement includes full financial statements detailing consolidated profit and loss, financial position, cash flows and earnings per share. These provide the detail needed to assess whether the underlying profitability translates into sustainable cash creation and durable payout capacity. Northern Star’s shift toward Alaska Range exploration, coupled with substantial cash earnings and a fully franked dividend yield, sets the foundation for investor evaluation going forward. This announcement is price sensitive and has been flagged as material by the ASX.
