Sandfire Resources has delivered record financial results for the year ended 30 June 2026, with underlying earnings surging 214 percent to US$350 million and statutory profit reaching US$354 million. The jump reflects both strong operational execution and the benefit of elevated commodity prices across the company’s copper and gold portfolio, positioning Sandfire as a compelling story for investors seeking exposure to copper in a disciplined, cash-generative operator.

The underlying EBITDA of US$867 million represents the company’s financial peak, supported by a commanding 52 percent EBITDA margin. Revenue increased substantially to US$1.65 billion as Sandfire’s two core assets, MATSA and Motheo, achieved annual and quarterly ore processing records. The company maintained cost discipline despite inflationary pressures and supply chain headwinds, holding underlying operating unit costs within 5 percent of guidance at US$89 per tonne at MATSA and US$46 per tonne at Motheo. Copper equivalent production of 154.2 kilotonnes in FY26 underpinned these results and demonstrates the operational scalability of both mines.

The balance sheet has strengthened considerably, with net tangible assets per share rising to US$4.30 from US$3.69 a year earlier. This improvement in net asset backing provides Sandfire with increased financial flexibility and resilience, important attributes in an industry exposed to commodity price volatility. The Board’s decision to pay a fully franked final dividend of 35 Australian cents per share reflects confidence in the company’s earnings power and cash generation, with the payment scheduled for 30 September 2026 to shareholders on the register as at 11 September 2026.

The results come against a backdrop of Sandfire pursuing growth opportunities and portfolio enhancements. Management has signaled that the company enters FY27 with two high-quality assets increasingly well-positioned for the medium term. The operational momentum suggests that the company’s teams are executing at a high standard, though it is worth noting that the year included a tragic first fatality at MATSA in February 2026 and a Total Recordable Injury Frequency of 1.6, reflecting the inherent risks in mining operations.

Investors will want to monitor the company’s dividend policy and capital allocation strategy as copper prices evolve. A teleconference and live webcast discussing the results were held on 26 August 2026, with the full FY26 Annual Report and corporate governance documentation available through the ASX and Sandfire’s website. The sustainability of these earnings levels will depend on copper pricing, operating costs, and production rates at both MATSA and Motheo, making the company’s FY27 guidance a key watch point when management presents its outlook. This announcement is price sensitive and has been flagged as material by the ASX.
