Washington H. Soul Pattinson and Company Limited delivered a landmark result for FY26, with post-tax net asset value reaching $14.5 billion, a 31.4 percent increase on the prior year. The diversified financials investment house’s transformation, capped by the integration of the Brickworks merger one year ago, underpinned both the scale of the portfolio’s growth and a material shift in its capital efficiency. Pre-tax NAV expanded 10.2 percent to $13.7 billion, outperforming the ASX200 Total Return Index’s 6.0 percent return, while the portfolio generated net cash flow from investments of $572 million, up 11.5 percent year on year.

The standout element of the result sits in the structural improvements delivered by the Brickworks merger rather than purely portfolio performance. The combination produced a $792 million net deferred tax asset, equivalent to $2.09 per share, which enables the enlarged group to grow and recycle capital with significantly greater tax efficiency going forward. The merger also created what management describes as a cleaner capital structure and stronger balance sheet, allowing the company to operate with greater strategic flexibility when pursuing investment opportunities across its diversified portfolio spanning credit, private companies, listed companies, and real assets.

Soul Patts extended its track record of disciplined capital management by declaring a final fully franked dividend of 63 cents per share, marking the 28th consecutive year of dividend growth and representing a 6.8 percent increase over the prior corresponding period. The company’s total shareholder return for the year reached 16.8 percent, outperforming the ASX200 Total Return Index by 10.8 percentage points. This combination of rising ordinary dividends and superior capital appreciation demonstrates the company’s commitment to rewarding shareholders despite navigating volatile market conditions and significant portfolio restructuring.

Balance sheet strength anchors the company’s forward strategy. Soul Patts ended FY26 with $3.8 billion in total available liquidity comprising $2.7 billion in cash and liquid investments alongside undrawn debt facilities. The portfolio benefited from $1.9 billion in net proceeds from the June 2026 divestment of its industrial property joint venture with Goodman Group. Management has deployed capital awaiting redeployment into fixed income investments to generate returns while retaining optionality for larger strategic deployments as opportunities emerge in credit, private markets, and potentially listed equities.

The result reflects a business moving beyond its merger integration phase into a period where superior tax positioning, scale benefits, and accumulated dry powder position it to capitalize on dislocations in credit and private markets. Investors should monitor capital deployment activity in coming periods, particularly the pace at which the company redeploys its accumulated cash against its stated investment targets. This announcement is price sensitive and has been flagged as material by the ASX.
