The business is organised into the Australia Online Advertising Services, Australia Data Research and Services, Investments, North America, Latin America and Asia segments. Its core activity is classified advertising across the carsales network, supported by subscriptions, lead fees, listing fees and priority placement products that increase dealer visibility, along with display advertising sold to corporate customers such as automotive manufacturers and finance companies.
The company also provides a range of supporting services, including software as a service, research and reporting, valuation and appraisal tools, website development and hosting, and photography services aimed at dealer operations. It further offers vehicle inspection services and operates digital marketplaces covering both automotive and non-automotive categories, supplying automotive data and advertising services across its markets. Known as carsales.com Ltd until it took the CAR Group name in November 2023, the company was incorporated in 1996 and is headquartered in Melbourne, Australia.
