Through its Wholesale segment the company sells electricity into the wholesale electricity market and directly to commercial and industrial customers, while its Retail segment delivers electricity, natural gas, broadband, and related products and services to mass market customers.
On the generation side, Contact Energy owns and operates a portfolio of hydro, geothermal, and thermal power stations, giving it a diversified production base across the country. The company also supplies bottled gas products, extending its reach beyond piped energy into broader fuel distribution. Incorporated in 1995, Contact Energy is headquartered in Wellington, New Zealand.
