BrainChip Holdings has achieved a significant operational milestone by receiving the first production batch of 2,000 AKD1500 neuromorphic processors during the quarter ending 30 June 2026. This represents the company’s transition from pre-production evaluation devices to commercial-scale manufacturing and validates manufacturing and supply chain readiness. The full production run is expected to deliver approximately 60,000 units, though this figure is slightly lower than initially anticipated due to lower than expected production yields. Management is currently analysing the production data to determine the source of the variance.

This production milestone carries significance for investors as a de-risking event. The company has moved from development into actual production deployment, with customer shipments anticipated to commence in the second half of calendar year 2026. Receiving physical units validates both the manufacturing capability and the commercial viability of the AKD1500 design. For investors in a specialized semiconductor company, production feasibility is a critical inflection point. The lower than expected yields are a point to monitor, as they could impact unit economics and the timeline for achieving volume production targets.

BrainChip’s cash position stands at $20.3 million as of quarter end, which provides the runway for near-term operations but remains a constraint for a commercial-stage semiconductor company. The timing of commercial shipments starting in H2 2026 will be critical to cash preservation. The company’s cash burn rate and the pace of revenue generation from initial customer deployments should be closely tracked by investors.

A notable development is the expiration of the LDA Capital Put Option Agreement on 30 June 2026. The associated $1.0 million failure fee was satisfied through liquidation of collateral shares held by LDA, resulting in the sale of approximately 6.96 million BrainChip shares that generated approximately $1.0 million in gross proceeds. A further 6.0 million collateral shares remained held by LDA following this transaction, with the company expecting LDA to liquidate these shares in an orderly manner over subsequent weeks. While share sales can create near-term price pressure, the resolution of this contractual obligation removes a significant overhang and eliminates a source of forced selling in the future.

Beyond production milestones, BrainChip has made progress on its commercialization strategy through IP licensing. The company successfully delivered register-transfer level design assets to EDGEAI under the Akida 2.0 licensing agreement, which represents a material contractual milestone and establishes future royalty-generating opportunities. This demonstrates the company’s ability to monetize its intellectual property alongside direct sales of the AKD1500 chips.
