BrainChip Holdings has announced that its Sequora Edge AI Processor intellectual property core has completed development and is now available for commercial licensing to semiconductor and system developers. This marks a significant milestone in the company’s commercialisation strategy, expanding its product portfolio beyond its existing Akida neuromorphic AI processor.
Sequora is built on BrainChip’s neuromorphic principles and targets edge applications where power efficiency, memory utilisation, and local processing capabilities are critical design considerations. Unlike traditional cloud-based AI approaches, Sequora enables generative AI workloads to run locally on devices, reducing reliance on cloud connectivity while maintaining data sovereignty. The processor supports large language model capabilities with model sizes up to approximately 3 billion parameters, addressing a significant gap in the current edge AI market where device-side generative AI remains limited.
The commercial offering positions Sequora as semiconductor IP licensed to customers for integration into their own system-on-chip designs. This licensing model differs from selling finished products and opens multiple revenue streams across industries where BrainChip sees application potential: industrial, automotive, aerospace and defence, consumer electronics, and medical devices. The licensing package includes comprehensive software and development tools, supporting customer adoption and reducing time-to-market for licensees.
From a product perspective, Sequora maintains the existing advantages of BrainChip’s Akida technology. The processor continues to operate on ultra-low power, maximising battery life for portable and wearable devices, while eliminating cloud dependency that competitors rely on. Sequora adds generative AI and LLM capabilities to this foundation, supports enhanced run-time branching for automotive, medical, and avionics certification requirements, and expands the range of models deployable on edge hardware where battery constraints have previously restricted capability.
Management has acknowledged that the company remains in early customer engagement activities and cannot yet provide reliable forecasts regarding licensing revenue, customer adoption rates, or timing of material financial impact. This reflects the reality that IP licensing requires lengthy development and integration cycles before licensees reach production volumes. The announcement explicitly states that any future material customer contracts or significant developments will be disclosed in accordance with continuous disclosure obligations.

Investors should monitor several developments going forward. The pace and scale of customer engagement and any announcements of significant licensing agreements will signal market acceptance of the Sequora architecture. Integration timelines with major semiconductor designers and system vendors will indicate how quickly generative AI on edge devices could become commercially viable. Adoption in regulated industries such as automotive and aerospace will be particularly important given the company’s emphasis on certification-ready branching capabilities. The announcement is classified as price sensitive and flagged as material by the ASX.
