Deterra Royalties (ASX: DRR) – FY26 Financial Results Presentation Slides

Deterra Royalties reported net profit of $164 million for FY26, up 5 percent on the prior year, with a fully franked final dividend of 10.8 cents per share. The result reflects solid operational performance from the MAC royalty combined with strategic portfolio actions that significantly transformed the balance sheet. Full year distributions reached 23.2 cents, up from 22 cents in FY25, and management continues to target a 75 percent payout ratio on net profit.

MAC royalty revenue climbed 7 percent to $234.4 million, underpinned by record sales volumes of 140.1 million tonnes dry metric tonnes. The Australian dollar realised price of $136 per tonne was lower on a year-on-year basis, but the mine’s operational strength showed through in volume delivery. The royalty contract benefits directly from higher throughput, and the capacity payment mechanism triggered at 140 million tonnes provided additional revenue support.

More striking was the balance sheet transformation. Net debt fell sharply to $132.5 million from $270.6 million in the prior year, a $138 million reduction driven primarily by proceeds from the disposal of non-core precious metals assets. Deterra disposed of the La Preciosa silver assets and the gold offtake portfolio acquired through Trident Royalties in September 2024. These sales generated approximately $124 million in proceeds and delivered a pre-tax internal rate of return of roughly 28 percent calculated from the acquisition date. On an accounting basis, Deterra realised an $8.4 million post-tax gain on the sales.

The strategic logic is evident: management identified these precious metals assets as lower-conviction holdings and recycled the proceeds into balance sheet de-risking. With net debt now substantially lower and $357 million in undrawn debt capacity available, the company retains meaningful flexibility for future capital allocation decisions.

The lithium exposure through the Thacker Pass project is likely to command investor attention over the medium term. Lithium Americas Corporation, which operates the project, targets mechanical completion in calendar 2027 with full Phase 1 production capacity expected to reach in 2028. Deterra has highlighted that the project has drawn US$1.2 billion from a US$2.2 billion Department of Energy loan facility, de-risking the capital requirements going forward. As the lithium asset ramps, Deterra’s diversified royalty portfolio positions it to capture upside from the new production stream.

The company’s capital management framework remains disciplined, targeting a leverage ratio of 0 to 15 percent through the cycle and pursuing investment in non-precious commodities aligned with its strategic focus. Near term, investors will likely track MAC volume developments and await updates on Thacker Pass as the mechanical completion milestone approaches in calendar 2027.
