Evolution Mining (ASX: EVN)View stock profile →

Evolution Mining delivered its strongest financial performance on record in FY26, with underlying profit reaching $1,563 million and group cash flow surging 76% to $1,389 million. The company’s results reflect both consistent operational execution across its diversified portfolio and disciplined capital management, positioning shareholders for meaningful returns through an enhanced dividend payout policy.

The most compelling metric for shareholders is the record final dividend of 21.0 cents per share, a 62% increase from the prior year’s 13.0 cents. Combined with an interim dividend of 20.0 cents, the full-year distribution totals 41.0 cents per share and will return approximately $833 million to shareholders. This follows nearly three decades of uninterrupted dividend payments, with cumulative shareholder distributions now exceeding $2.5 billion. The improvement demonstrates Evolution’s ability to translate operational success into tangible capital returns, particularly during a period when commodity prices remain supported.

The financial foundation supporting these returns is increasingly robust. Underlying EBITDA expanded to $3,171 million with a 57% margin, representing a 44% increase year-on-year and reflecting both volume growth and operational leverage. Operating mine cash flow reached $3,394 million, while net mine cash flow totaled $2,079 million. This cash generation enabled the company to strengthen its balance sheet to a net cash position of $1,347 million while carrying $1,329 million in debt. Notably, no material debt repayments are due until FY29, affording management considerable flexibility for both organic investment and shareholder returns.

Evolution has reset its dividend policy to target 60% of annual group cash flow, up from the prior 50% payout rate. This policy adjustment, combined with the company’s demonstrated ability to consistently generate substantial cash, signals management confidence in the underlying asset quality and operational consistency. The new payout target aligns with peer practice in the sector and reflects the maturity of Evolution’s operating portfolio.

For FY27, management guidance points to sustained strong performance across key metrics. Gold production is expected to fall within 660,000 to 730,000 ounces while copper output should reach 63,000 to 70,000 tonnes. All-in sustaining costs are guided to $1,795 to $1,995 per ounce, suggesting margins may moderate modestly from FY26’s record levels but remain competitive within the sector. Capital expenditure guidance includes $265 to $325 million in sustaining capital and $1.01 to $1.15 billion in combined major mine development and project capital, indicating substantial continued investment in organic growth initiatives.

Investors should closely monitor commodity price movements, which represent material variables in the company’s earnings trajectory. The achieved gold price of $1,717 per ounce and copper price of $1,092 per ounce in FY26 clearly benefited results, and sustained shifts in these benchmarks could materially impact future cash generation and dividend capacity. Equally important, the execution of major capital projects toward organic growth will determine whether guidance assumptions prove durable. This announcement is price sensitive and has been flagged as material by the ASX.
