Evolution Mining has maintained its full-year FY27 Group guidance across all measures despite a slower-than-expected September quarter, with the result demonstrating the cost discipline and operational leverage that support the company’s cash generation model. The quarter delivered 154,000 ounces of gold and 18,000 tonnes of copper at an all-in sustaining cost of A$1,653 per ounce, placing Evolution among the lowest-cost producers in the sector. Against an achieved gold price of A$6,115 per ounce, this cost structure yielded a margin of 73 percent, a level that management views as consistent with its high-margin operating model.
The quarter’s cash flow performance underscores the strength of this cost advantage. Evolution generated net mine cash flow of A$466 million, equivalent to A$2,990 per ounce, while operating mine cash flow reached A$775 million. These figures reflect the company’s position as a cash generative asset base, with positive net mine cash flow recorded at all operational sites. Even as production settled slightly below internal expectations, the maintained AISC and strong pricing environment combined to deliver material free cash flow, positioning the company for sustained capital deployment through FY27.
Three organic growth projects at Cowal, Northparkes and Ernest Henry remain on schedule and within approved budgets, with the most concrete development being the Northparkes Concentrate Regrind and Filtration Project, approved by the Board at A$72 million for Evolution’s share. The project targets a 2 percent improvement in gold recovery and 1 percent in copper recovery while improving concentrate grade, with projected returns at a rate of 30 to 37 percent and expected completion by Q1 FY29. This return profile illustrates the quality of capital deployment opportunities available within Evolution’s existing asset base, with incremental production gains available at relatively modest capital intensity.
Evolution’s balance sheet strengthened, with net cash rising to A$141 million and total cash balances reaching A$1,470 million. Exploration activity continues to support longer-term upside potential, with recent drilling at Ernest Henry identifying mineralisation including 61.3 metres of 1.26 percent copper and 0.77 grams per tonne gold up to 900 metres below current production levels. Safety performance improved, with the trailing 12-month total recordable injury frequency declining to 5.8.
Investors should monitor production trends across the four remaining quarters of FY27, the timing of production ramp-up from the growth projects, and the evolution of exploration results from the Ernest Henry deep extensions. The announcement is price sensitive and flagged as material by the ASX.
