Perpetual Limited reported a solid financial year with underlying profit after tax from continuing operations up 11% to $186.3 million for FY26, driven by earnings growth from Corporate Trust and improved Asset Management contributions despite challenging market conditions. The company entered into a binding agreement to sell its Wealth Management business to Bain Capital Private Equity, streamlining operations to focus on its core asset management and corporate trust businesses.
Asset Management, the largest segment, delivered underlying profit before tax of $207.5 million, 3% higher than the prior year. While the division faced $25.1 billion in net outflows primarily from international equity strategies, this was largely offset by $30.2 billion in gains from equity market appreciation and investment performance. Revenue declined 3% to $880.5 million, primarily reflecting unfavorable foreign exchange movements of $22.5 million, though underlying operational performance improved with the cost-to-income ratio improving to 76% from 78% in the prior year.
The company did record a $63.5 million non-cash impairment charge against goodwill for Thompson, Siegel and Walmsley (TSW), a US-based value investment boutique acquired as part of the group’s international expansion. This significant write-down reflects challenging market conditions for value-oriented strategies during the period.
Corporate Trust emerged as a growth driver, with revenue rising 8% across all three business lines. This segment benefits from the company’s acquisitions of the Income Asset Management Group’s term deposit broking business and a 70% stake in Interfi Systems, supporting expansion in its managed funds and debt market services.
On the balance sheet, Perpetual demonstrated financial discipline by reducing corporate debt by $100 million to $629.3 million, maintaining a gearing ratio of 28.8%. The company held $199.9 million in surplus available liquid funds following proposed dividend payments. These metrics position the company with enhanced financial flexibility ahead of the Wealth Management sale completion, expected in the final quarter of 2026 subject to remaining regulatory conditions.
The Simplification Program, a strategic initiative to streamline the business, has delivered $72.6 million in annualised savings to date with further benefits anticipated in FY27. Management remains focused on this program alongside organic growth investments in Asset Management and Corporate Trust.

Become an AR or CARThe board declared a final unfranked ordinary dividend of 63.0 cents per share, representing a payout ratio of 65% of full-year underlying profit after tax. Investors should monitor progress toward completing the Wealth Management sale, as net proceeds will support further debt reduction and strengthen the balance sheet. The company’s ability to stabilize Asset Management outflows and demonstrate sustained earnings growth in Corporate Trust will be key indicators of execution against its strategic priorities.
