Perseus Mining (ASX: PRU) – Q3 2026 Quarterly Activities Report

Perseus Mining reported a challenging September quarter operationally, with gold production declining 16,462 ounces to 92,551 ounces while all-in site costs rose USD$94 per ounce to USD$2,035/oz. The combination created a cash margin squeeze of USD$299 per ounce, dragging notional quarterly cashflow to USD$171 million. Despite the weaker quarter, management has maintained its full-year FY27 production and cost guidance unchanged, signalling confidence that near-term pressures will reverse.

The quarterly decline reflects mixed performance across Perseus’ three operating mines. Yaouré produced 36.6k ounces, down 6 percent from the prior quarter, though the mine reached commercial production at its CMA Underground operation in July. Edikan declined 15 percent to 35.8k ounces as cutbacks at Fetish and Esuajah North progressed, while Sissingué fell more sharply to 20k ounces, down 29 percent, partly reflecting seasonal patterns. Each mine has FY27 guidance that management expects will offset these quarterly lows as higher-grade ore accesses materialise and underground mining ramps.

Gold prices represented another significant headwind. The average realised selling price of USD$3,881 per ounce fell USD$205 from the prior quarter, meaning some of the cash margin compression was driven by gold’s lower price. Perseus achieved cash margins of USD$1,452 per ounce at Yaouré and USD$2,230 per ounce at Edikan, demonstrating the company’s cost discipline even as spot prices retreated. The firm’s balance sheet remained robust with USD$900 million in net cash and bullion, still representing a substantial fortress with zero debt and USD$400 million of undrawn facilities.

The Nyanzaga Gold Project in Tanzania represents the key growth catalyst ahead. Construction reached 84 percent completion with first gold expected in January 2027, positioning the mine as a long-life, low-cost cornerstone asset. The reserve carries 16-year life at average AISC guidance of USD$1,600 to USD$1,700 per ounce, meaningfully lifting group output once operations commence. The ramp-up timing will be critical to achieving the group’s FY27 production guidance of 420,000 to 480,000 ounces.

Beyond near-term operations, Perseus has maintained an active shareholder return programme, having returned A$667 million since FY24. The company has proposed a special distribution of approximately A$100 million and increased its FY27 buyback to A$350 million, indicating management’s assessment that the balance sheet can support both growth capital and distributions. Investors should monitor whether Q2 results confirm the production recovery expected in coming quarters and track Nyanzaga’s transition to commercial production. The project’s start timing and early operational performance will be critical milestones to validate management’s guidance assumptions. This announcement has been flagged as price sensitive and material by the ASX.
