PolyNovo (ASX: PNV) – PolyNovo Reports FY26 Full Year Results

PolyNovo delivered solid full year results that demonstrate the medical device company’s progression toward sustainable profitability. Commercial sales reached $138.4 million, a 16.7% increase from the prior year, while the company achieved positive net profit after tax of $7.3 million and generated $23.1 million in operating cash flow. These results underscore PolyNovo’s transition from a growth-at-any-cost trajectory to a more balanced approach that combines revenue expansion with disciplined cost management.

The gross margin decline to 89.0% from 95.6% initially appears concerning, but the underlying story is more nuanced. The reduction primarily reflects inventory build as production ramped during the second half, a temporary headwind rather than a structural weakness in the business. Management notes that underlying manufacturing performance improved materially as production volumes returned to normal levels. This distinction matters for investors assessing the business’s sustainable profitability profile.

The EBITDA performance reinforces this interpretation. While reported EBITDA grew modestly by 8.1% to $12.1 million, underlying EBITDA surged 50.4% to $13.4 million, demonstrating that the core business is expanding earnings at a much stronger pace than headline figures suggest. This divergence indicates operational leverage is beginning to emerge as the company scales revenue more efficiently.

Revenue growth was underpinned by geographic diversification, with all regions contributing to expansion. The Americas region, representing 75% of commercial sales at $104.1 million, grew 14.7% in local currency and 20.2% in constant currency. Asia-Pacific stood out with 33.6% growth to $13.7 million, signaling that PolyNovo is successfully penetrating faster-growing international markets. EMEA added $20.6 million with 17.3% local currency growth.

The investment case extends beyond current results. PolyNovo completed construction of its new manufacturing facility, with validation activities progressing toward planned transition in FY27. This capacity expansion positions the company to support future growth without the inventory challenges that pressured margins in FY26. Concurrently, the company advanced clinical evidence supporting NovoSorb applications beyond burns, progressed the NovoSorb MTX commercial rollout, and moved forward with PMA submission activities targeting the United States market. These initiatives suggest multiple pathways for revenue expansion ahead.

Investors should monitor several key developments over coming quarters. The transition to the new manufacturing facility will be critical, as operational disruption could briefly pressure margins and cash flow. The progression of clinical trials and potential US approval pathway could materially expand addressable market size. Finally, the company’s ability to maintain operating leverage while continuing geographic expansion will determine whether underlying EBITDA growth can sustain or accelerate.
