The payments business acquires and processes electronic transactions for merchants across card present, card-not-present, and in-app payment channels, while the banking business extends transaction accounts, term deposits, and merchant cash advances and business loans. Its merchant base spans retail, hospitality, health, trades and services, hotel and accommodation, corporate, and not-for-profit organizations.
On the operational side, Tyro supplies EFTPOS terminal hardware under lease arrangements, sells related terminal accessories, and offers EFTPOS machine solutions that integrate payment acceptance directly into merchant point-of-sale systems. The company traces its origins to 2003, when it was incorporated as MoneySwitch Limited, before adopting the Tyro Payments name in October 2010. Tyro Payments Limited is headquartered in Sydney, Australia.
